Seniors gather at a small salon to hang out and 'talk about everything' By Allison Bruce One reason Shirley Watmore bought her home in Vallecito Community in Thousand Oaks was because of the small beauty salon in the mobile home park's former laundry building.The 84-year-old goes once a week to Mary Ann Varady's shop to get her hair done. There, she can sit back with a cup of coffee under the dryer and listen to the conversation meander from group trips to hot flashes to rotisserie chicken.
